Website design
A site that answers partners, not just a homepage
Afri-Silkway connects African businesses with Silk Road markets. After every pitch, interested governments and investors looked them up and found a single page with nowhere to go next. We built the rest.
The client
Afri-Silkway Economic Development Initiative exists to build trade, investment and innovation links between African countries and the Silk Road economies. Its counterparties are governments, development agencies and businesses considering a serious commitment, which is a long way from an impulse purchase.
What the site had to do
- Somewhere credible to send a minister or an investor after a meeting
- Enough detail that a serious party can decide whether to engage
- A way to raise a hand that does not depend on knowing someone
- A presence that reads as institutional rather than improvised
What we built
1
Pages that carry the programme. Services, About and Contact, each written around what the initiative actually does: trade facilitation, investment promotion and economic development. A visitor can now work out whether it is relevant to them without asking anyone.
2
An enquiry route that reaches a person. Enquiry and newsletter forms notifying the initiative’s own inbox, so interest is captured while it is warm rather than lost to an address nobody watches.
3
Evidence instead of assertion. A documented gallery of the work, because an initiative asking for institutional trust has to look established before it is believed.
4
One place to maintain the details. Contact information lives in a single template the whole site pulls from, so a changed number changes everywhere at once.
What the site does now
- Explains the programme past the homepage
- Captures partner enquiries and routes them to a monitored inbox
- Shows the work rather than describing it
- Reads properly on a phone, where most people open it
